As many of you, no doubt, already know, Robert Parker, in the December 30, 2013 issue of “The Wine Advocate” was very complimentary to Peter Michael Winery. He gave two of our wines perfect scores and rated a whole host of others as “extraordinary.” Better still, from my perspective, was the glowing praise he lavished upon our winery, vineyards and winemakers.
When I started our family’s wine project over 30 years ago, this was the type of recognition I hoped that the winery would one day achieve. The winery has never tailored its wines for the palates of critics. Instead, our goal is to let the character of the vineyard speak through noble grape varieties and classical winemaking. Still, receiving accolades of this magnitude is both humbling and a source of great pride.
Perfection is a difficult target to hit. Truth be known, it is always moving. That said, I would like to take a moment to congratulate our winemaker, Nicolas Morlet, vineyard manager Javier Aviña, consultant Luc Morlet, and the rest of the winery team on this tremendous achievement. It is the culmination of over three decades of effort.
Our family vision is to own this wine estate for at least 100 years, and to build it into something that is truly world class. Let us take a moment to savor this success before we continue our pursuit of perfection going forward.
Sir Peter Michael
